I find the foot brake on my GV adequate for the job. I've owned over 100 cars various in my time and have the experience to say.
The braking problem on GVs is NOT the footbrake. The braking problem on GV is the HANDBRAKE. Let us direct our energies to the real problem here.

100% agree, my GV driving brakes re as good as any in the 100's of cars I've owned and driven. My views on the rapscallion top~hat parking brakes are well known. Metallic [sintered] are more [efficient] aggressive, heat [away from the disc] dispersing, and more affordable. Ceramic are tough on disc wear, and deffo not to be used on a towing vehicle. Ceramics is a choice that does not need making, its nothing more than the 'latest pointless fad' from my point of view.

Just a thought; has anyone come across a supplier of hand-brake shoes for the GV that are soft and high-friction? I know there is an australian company doing them but it seems a long way to go just for brake shoes. Although it just scraped through the MOT, I'm still not too happy with the handbrake situation on GV.

To be accurate, and after researching, it DOES appear there are footbrake problems on later GVs, about 2009 onwards.
These include stupendous wear on brake pads, vibrations, and extremely hot wheels.
It appears that in the US there are class-action lawsuits against Daimler-Chrysler. (In UK these are called group-action).
Oh dear.
