EGR block or not

I don't got exprince with block egr but a friend of me owns a CASE tractor dealer ship and he said if the engine is run high load moste of the time don't block egr course it lower the combustion temp so if block it could course at melt down the piston. So if you don't got a towhook it's proberly not a problem .

Why not just use diesel aditive every 10000km or together with oil change. I do and never had problems CRD2.5 with over 500000km on the clock.

Are you going to drill a hole in the penny Andy? If you don't then I think you can expect to see the engine warning permanently on. Either way, I'll be interested to hear the results.

I've noticed that pipe on Alan's picture going into the bottom of the intake manifold and traced it around the back to the Elusive EGR. Many times I've read on here about blanking off at EGR itself. Always wondered if there was a reason like a blanking problem here done by a simple penny..
