Default Electronic fob

Hi guys,
Well i got the car at long last and i am impressed. One thing though that i would like to know.My key fob does not work.I have changed the batteries and made sure the positive contact is touching but to no avail. So what is my next step without having to spend loads of money? Is it possible it is out of sync and if so is there a way to resync it?

I bought a new one for $180 a few years back, (that's a lot of cabbage) and when the tech programmed it he needed the car present because there was an intricate dance he needed to do where he turned the car on turned on, flashed a turn signal, pushed a button on the fob while he stood on his head to program the unit to the vehicle. he said it could not be "un-programmed" and used with a different car. I don't know if this is part of the technicians mysterious craft or not but maybe you have a fob from a different car? has it ever worked with yours? call the dealership and find out what that mysterious dance was they do to program them maybe they can be shared or re-programmed.

I see your in England so please substitute the word programme I believe it is.
