Question Gearbox Coolers. OK with just one conected?

Hi Guys.
A friend of mine has just got her first Voyager. its a 1998 3.3 Auto [standard UK spec].
Like mine it's fitted with the radiator with a gearbox cooler at each end [were they all like this?] I read somewhere that this set up is used on vehicles that are expected to do alot of towing, is this correct?
She has a gearbox oil leak , looks like its somewhere on the front of the 'box. I know that if its those pipes i changed they are VERY expensive.

My question is , " As the car never does any towing is it OK to just connect one gearbox cooler using rubber hydralic hose?? "

Cheers Gareth

If you do not tow anything then the stock factory trans cooler is good enough.
