Default Grand Voyager Over Running

Hello
new to this forum, sorry if this has been asked before.
Ihave a 2002 grand voyager diesel 2.5
when travelling the engine seems to be running fast and can run away.
When i start i do not need to use the accelerator as by just raising the clutch the vehicle will pull away
Funny though i do not seem to be using a lot of extra fuel????
Is this just the idle speed that needs adjusting and if so how.
Or do i need to get it plugged into the dealers computer.
Iam located in Walsall can anyone help
Thanks Ray
