Default I Take t Nobody Knows Then????

Hi Guys, I am having an issue with my rear wiper. The wiper works fine when the switch is turned on but stops as soon as you turn the switch off... it does not park itself. It operated directly with the switch... switch on = wiper on.. switch off = wiper just stops.. it does not park itself. I know its not a drastic problem but its more annoying than anything. I thought it may have been the motor playing up but I borrowed my mates and does exactly the same thing with that one so it's definately not motor related. Any advice would be brilliant. Thanks in advance.

Nick

You've eliminated the park switch by slaving in a different motor. Have you verified the park switch circuit from the motor to the IPM is ok?

I thought the wiper motor and park switch were an integral unit...

They are. As I said, park switch circuit meaning the wiring to the motor for the park switch.

When you turn the wiper switch off on the dash power is still applied to the motor via the park switch in the motor assembly allowing the motor to continue operating. As a mechanical cam lobe rotates and reaches the park position it pushes the park switch contacts open and stops the motor and your wipers at the correct park position.

Unfortunately I'm as stuck as you are. Looking at the diagram again It would appear the rear motor has a single power source - 20 amp fuse 11 in the IPM. If that fuse or wire from it were bad the wiper wouldn't work at all. It's not chrystal clear but it appears the BCM turns a ground on and off. That may be where your problem lies. QuiteQ's link may be the answer.

Sure your buddy's motor was working ok before you installed it?

I'll just wait for outcome on this. Never in my life of over 50 cars I've had a rear wiper fault.
