Default misfire 3

heres one for u guys who r much smarter than me...175000 mile 3.8 van well maintained... been misfiring for months but no codes or cel.... so... i put plugs and wires on it saturday and monday engine light showing # 3 misfire appears... van runs smooth on highway but stumbles and misses bad at idle... even worse now than before plugs and wires....burns about 1 quart per 1500 miles.... ideas ? thanks alot

so the verdict is........... the coil pack ! this thing has been jerkin for almost a year and i was convinced it was something in the tranny skippin... turned out to be a misfire caused by faulty coil.... no codes at first was the stumper.... anyway i went with a mopar this time ( aftermarket was installed about 3 years ago when i also developed a misfire ) so we will see... but for now... smooth as she goes... thanks kevin
