Default Noise at engine shut down

My 2001 Town & Country with the 3.8 makes a grinding noise when I turn the ignition off. It only lasts for a few seconds and sounds like it's coming from the engine compartment. The oil and all other fluids are good. Thanks in advance

The best I can discribe it is it sounds like a cat growling. It only happens at engine shut off. Could it be the electric fans ?

they dont run all the time only when engine temp is above 215 and then only untill the temp goes down then shuts them off. Does it do it or not with the ac running?

It does it with or without the A/C on. The noise is not present at start up or when the engine is running.

The noise was being caused by the clutch in the alternator.

Was it also making a squeeling noise when you started it up during the winter? I think mine is doing the same thing.

Thanks,
David
