The bumper has two main rails that slide into car body chassis members and from below you can see the 2 mounting bolts each side. But they might be sized so watch you don't round off the heads. Bumper extremities are also secured to car off sides so have a look up from below.
This job was brought up months ago so look back for further guidance.

Is there a repair that can be done in situ without removing. Youtube videos suggest plastic welding but I can't justify spending £60 for something like a plastic welder I will use once

Plastic welder at £60 that is used only once is cheaper than replacing bumper after possible problems on removing it.

This the hot air gun that heats the plastic sticks that are feed into the ground out crack.
Bumpers are made of different materials so a booklet will be required to get the plastic type from stamps on bumper. Would think the bumper would be required to come off for this job as welding is done both sides for strength.

The bumper cover is very easy to remove, there are four screws to remove on each side and four push pins to remove from below, here's a diagram:

The diagram is from this document: 82210155AC.pdf, it contains instructions for installing the Mopar trailer hitch.

What's the going price for a secondhand bumper against a plastic welder.
