Default rear fog lights

Hi
The rear fog lights on our GV have not worked since we have owned the car-------I have read that the towbar wiring causes problems because of the way the lights are wired ?????---I suspect the lights have been disconnected to solve this problem ???
I am thinking of fitting a new switch and wiring a separate new fog light so that I can wire it into the trailer socket------is this the easiest option ? or should I try to 'correct' the existing lights-----IF I get to the original switch, any idea which is the fog light wire ?????
Thanks for any suggestions
Nigel

Thanks for your help again Richard ----I think we have the answer for the fog lights
Your checking the air bag light seems to have worked-------the light was out on the way home --------time will tell if it's a 'fix'
But the exhaust gave up and we sounded like a tractor ------The cat dropped off the down-pipe--- -as you know I was expecting that eventually----We have it booked in tomorrow for that.
Thanks again
Nigel & Pamala
