Default Recall, can I get refund?

Got a 2011 T& C. Started throwing a misfire code, and eventually broke down on the side of the road. Long story short, took it to a private garage that had to redo the valve and some other stuff and I ended up paying 2300. Turns out the problem was deeper, the code didn't disappear and the garage tore everything back down and found that chrysler has a recall for this very item which I was never informed of and I couldn't find on the Internet. Now the car has to go to the dealer to fix. It will be covered by them but what about my 2300? The garage doesn't want to refund since they're already way in over the 2300. Would chrysler refund for this?
the garage also added in that the recall was apparently only up to 100,000 miles (mine is just over 100k of course), but was extended to 150k.
any ideas?

Hi Press1280,

Recalls rarely have a mileage associated with them--this sounds like an extended warranty. Any recalls, closed or open, will be found by going to https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls.html. You can submit the invoices for consideration through mopar.com if they are recall related.

It may be a tsb although I wasn't able to find it online either.
so let's assume someone got a problem fixed at a non dealer then found out it was covered on a tsb or recall. Would the owner be reimbursed?

These are looked at on a case-by-case basis. Recalls are generally given a bit more consideration. Most repairs done under a TSB are covered within the basic 3/36 warranty, and a lot them are software flashes, so the likelihood of having something completed by a third party is slim anyway. An extended warranty is separate from a TSB or a recall, as well.

This only applies to the 3.6 ltr Pentastar engine. If this is the relevant left cylinder head TSB read the 4th paragraph beginning with, "If you have already experienced...": https://customerconnect.custhelp.com...VBTDEzTXFJczZU

Ok so it was as you said. The warranty was extended to 150k miles at least for this particular issue. Dealer took care of it at no charge.
but I'm still out 2300 from the other mechanic who went way overboard because the dealer receipt only showed approximately 1100 dollars in labor and parts and I know the dealers labor is more than my mechanic's.
any way that chrysler would cover at least a portion? I wasn't made aware of this issue, neither was my mechanic. Otherwise I would have gone straight to the dealer but I assumed my warranty was up.
