I have a 2002 Voyager 2.5 CRD SE, 100k km on the clock.

I asked the garage to do a coolant flush and change and they said that they had experienced quite a few water pump failures after doing flushes in other Voyagers. They recommended not doing any flush.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced any issues like this? I am planning on changing teh timing belt ... so I could change the water pump at the same time... if it's recommended.

Thoughts anyone?

Yes there's, two camps on the subject - flush or don't flush. For the don't flush camp the thought is flushing a higher mileage engine with old coolant in it can dislodge sediments in the system and those sediments then clog up the radiator passages. Damaging the pump is a new one on me but, can't count it out. Me? If the coolant that's in it has been there from the showroom floor then just drain the coolant and refill. Change the pump? Not automatic with a TB or coolant change but at 100K miles and if it's the original pump, it wouldn't be a bad idea. If you've had regular coolant changes along the way to 100k miles then flush away. Some don't give it a second thought and all is well after the flush. Others have problems. It's almost a crap shoot.
