towing with a T & C
Hello All,
My husband and I bought a 2005 T&C Touring two weeks ago and we love it so far. One week ago, however, we started looking into boats. Our vehicle does not have a tow package. We are interested in an 18 foot open bow runabout, with trailer will weigh about 3200 pounds. Does anyone out there tow this kind of weight with their van? If so, how far do you tow? Our nicest local lake is about 80 miles away, and once or twice a year we plan to tow long distances.
Is it possible for the Dealer to equip my vehicle to tow this weight and any idea what it will cost?
Thanks!

RE: towing with a T & C
well i dont have the info with me but the towing limit sounds right. you might want to think about an external trans cooler along with your hitch and wiring(7 way connector) you need for towing. the van should hold up well but a little bit of extra protection never hurts exspecially if you are buying this van and not leasing it

I agree completely with ace re: the auxillary tranny cooler. CHEAP insurance against tranny failure. Heat is the #1 killer of auto transmissions.
As for towing with your T&C. . . have at it. My neighbor towed his 18' bow-rider with his '93 Plymouth G. Voyager since day #1.
He towed from just south of Washington, DC to upstate New York and back, twice a year. (# of miles.. . unknown.) His van had the 3.3L V-6, auto trans and a HEAVY duty tranny cooler.
His van died last year coming back from North Carolina. His van had 191,000 miles on it, and the boat was on the back.
