Default tranny question

I have a 2006 TC, which I purchased overseas from a military base exchange new car sales lot (so it has Amercian specifications). I noticed the other day that the minivan rolls forward whenI am backing up on an incline if my foot is not on the brake pedal. In other words, when the transmission is in the reverse gear, the car rolls forward due to gravity if I'm not applying the brakes. If I step on the accelerator pedal, the car does proceed in reverse. Two Chrysler reps here in Europe have told me this is "normal" behavior for 06 and newermodels. Is this true? It seems kind of odd to me. My '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4WD) doesn't do this, even though I know it's a totally diffferent type of transmision.
