Default Transmission Shudder

My wife's van has developed a 'washboard' shudder when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. It seems very apparent when the engine is warm and doesn't happen until the engine has warmed up for about 10-15 minutes. Haven't had the transmission flushed since we purchased the van one year ago. Any suggestions as to what's going on?

Flushed huh?
You have the wrong tranny fluid installed, use ATF-4 only. Drop the pan and replace the filter.

Kinght, if you ever get a shudder always start off by changing the fluid. Viscosity can always be a culprit

Under normal circumstances I would change it by pan drop. In past years, Chrysler's way of getting rid of the shudder was to change the fluid then run it for a while and change it again. If it didn't go away then replace the Torque Converter. I'm ususally not a fan of flushes but in this case it may be prudent to do so.

dropped pan and replaced fluid and filter, still have a shudder from 2-3 upshift, (thinking of dropping again in a few weeks after fluid has circulated around a bit) also there is a slight chug when it hits around 35-40, and sometimes when I stop there is that little bump shift like it downshifts from 3rd a little late, this also only happens once in a while, I am thinking of taking it to the dealership, there is a tsb about the 08 62te trans for this issue, but mine is an 09, so they probably wont do anything unless I pay for it, but I was thinking about having them perform a quick relearn on the transmission. What do u think?

Oh, I thought you had an older one. I didnt know it was an 09. Is your powertrain still good? They need to rebuild it or replace it if it is. Just because the TSB applied to 08 doesn't mean they fixed the issue at the factory level by the time yours was built. These trans are known for doing that. If they won't doi anything, go to another dealer or call Chrysler and raise hell....lol.

Default Finally did somethin about it.

I decided to stop by the local tranny shop to have them do a quick learn last saturday, and if that didnt fix it I could go from there, for now the shudder seems to be gone and it shifts smoother and better all around, will have to see how long it lasts. The best part is they didnt even charge me to do it
