Default Vacuum problem

Hi I need help advise with brake problem on 03 model 2.5cdr (european.uk). The first application of the brakes is fine and the vehicle stops as it should but if the brakes are applied straight away again the pedal is hard with what appears to be no servo assistance. A hundred metres or so and the pedal again is back to normal for one application. I have fitted a new servo(booster) and have also tried another check valve. rubber hose( albeit not chrysler) but the problem still exists. This vehicle has also had for its MOT (safety inspection) new discs pads and front hubs(bearings). I cannot see the vac pump and do not have a vac guage but there appears to be good suction at the end of the metal feed pipe. So do these vehicles have a history of vacuum pump failure or could it be something Ive missed ,,thanks Brian

Hi
No they don't suffer from pumps or servos yours will be the first I know of. But if the servo doesn't have a leak and the pipe work is OK it has to be the pump.

I sort of knew that to be honest but i was clutching at straws. It looks a job and a half to get to/change and I think maybe an electric donor pump might be the answer instead of engine strip. Why the hell they didnt put them on the alternator like most manufacturers is beyond me. Thanks for the reply anyhow am I lucky or what?
