Question What is LED light in overhead console for?

I have 2007 Grand Caravan and wonder if anyone knows what the single LED in the overhead console is for. It is located to rear of buttons. Is it worth replacing and what are the specs for it?

Hey jerth, I have just been doing some trudging through posts in various Chrysler forums and have found out what the little green LED is for on the overhead console. It is to 'dimly' light up the cup holders in between the driver and passenger seats. It doesent appear to light it up much but cover the little hole at night and you will see the difference. It lights them up just enough so you can see them. You can put whatever colour LED you want back in it. You will want to get a T1 3/4 (5mm) LED. Hope this helps.

Nick

Hey nick,

Figure I would revive a 5 year old thread. i noticed that LED is out on mine. I see there are various 5mm T1 LEDs with different voltages, are these just regular 3V LED?

I bought 5mm, but they were too big. I had to order 4mm T1 1/4 from Amazon.

CEC Industries #8640 Bulbs, 14 V, 1.12 W, Wire Terminal Base, T-1.25 shape (Box of 10)

They are working fine for me. You will need to remove the blue plastic that is on old LED and put it on the new one. Be careful because they can rip if you get too forceful. I hope that helps.
