Wheel Refurb Needed....help
Afternoon,
I’ve been told that corroded alloys on Voyagers are as common as pigeons! Mine are a little worse for wear and could do with a tidy up.
I’ve been looking around and most places charge between £50-£100 a corner. Now I love my cars to look there best but that is a lot of cash for something that doesn’t affect the running of the car just the look!
So...I’m thinking of doing it myself, I’ve sourced some highly recommended paint, primer and lacquer at a total cost of between £30-£50 total.
Has anyone done this themselves, any recommendations, pointers, tips ect, I’ve done some painting before so have some experience but any advice will help.
Thanks

im about to tackle mine also. but i did some on another car a few years back and followed this guide
First step: Sand all down with 80, fill dents, scratches, kerbing etc, sand 80, then 240:

** clean wheel like mad! ** (sugar soap spray is good at removing dirt and grime, or clean in the bath)
Second step: Spray with hi-build primer: (1 light, 10min wait, 1 heavy coat, 10 min wait, 1 heavy coat - same process for all spraying: primer, paint, lacquer)

Allow to dry over night
Third step: Sand wet (with some washing up liquid) 1000 wet n dry, then you can spray with silver spray paint:

Allow to dry (30+ minutes)
Forth step: spray with lacquer.

Optional step (but a good idea) - "finish" the lacquer - with very fine wet and dry (eg 1500 / 2000) to remove any roughness, then using something like Scratch X to remove any marks left by the sandpaper.
Then polish and admire your handy work
Does take time, but gets great results

Any chance of some before and after photos? I think lots of us are contemplating this. Do you have the fancy wheel centres with the Chrysler logo on them, mine now look bad and need to do something about them, but they are £27 + vat from the dealer, anyone found a way to refurb the centres?
I found these on ebay but i depends on the measurement of the centre cap if they will fit.
CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE 54mm 55mm WHEEL CAP CENTER BADGES IN BLACK & CHROME STARTECH | eBay
I do have these on mine and they will need replacing as are worn.
I want to get on to them within the next few weeks.
Im not sure on what colour to go though, standard silver or a gun mental grey colour as my GV is silver so to make them stand out???
