Whirring noise?

Whirring noise?
Hello all, I am a new Chrysler owner seeking some advice!
I have just bought a 2001 2.5d Grand Voyager Ltd, its an exellent car, only it makes a loud whiring sound when the climate control is on, and after it the ignition has been switched off (about a minute or so).
The noise is coming from the passenger side.
Hopefully nothing serious?
