Unhappy Power sunroof problem w/2000 Neon....

I recently bought a 2000 Neon w/128 kms....at the time of purchase, I was informed by the used car dealer that the factory sunroof was not functioning....when I try to open same, the (sunroof) motor just makes a grinding noise; like stripped gears or something. Could anyone hazard a guess as to how expensive a fix this would be? Thanks in advance for any input....Matt

I think you would have to drop the headliner and find out what the problem is. I would check out a wrecker for a decent used one.

I'm having the same problem with the sunroof.
Before I go and rip the headliner apart.... did you find out what was wrong with yours? Did you fix it?

Unfortunately, I've been procrastinating and haven't done anything about it....although from the input I've been getting from mechanics, it looks likely to be an expensive fix....sorry. :-(
