04 Sebring 2.7 engine noise
I bought this car a month ago and it seemed to run fine. On the way home from buying it, it started to over heat and it shut itself off. I looked under the hood and the coolant bleeder valve had bubbling water coming out from where it sets on the engine and the overflow tank was over heating as well. (I carefully undid the cap to relieve the pressure). It cooled down, I refilled the tank, did the bleeder valve and it started right up and I was on my way. Then 5 miles down the road, it did it AGAIN.. So, I repeat the process and it starts right up, and I'm on my way again. Then 5 miles from home, it did it AGAIN.. So, I repeat the process and this time the car won't start back up, it did a crank like the battery was dead, but I still had all my lights, alarm system, radio, etc. I ended up leaving it on the side of the highway for 8 hours until I could get it towed home. It sat for 3 weeks (until yesterday) and my little brother came over and he hooked it to his suv and he got it started, when it started there is a horrible clanking noise coming from the front of the motor (front valve cover head), but it stayed running. I don't know if it's the cylinder head or the valve cover that the actual problem lays. But you can hear it what we think is coming from the valve cover. It's only got 108,xxx on it. Any suggestions would be highly-gratefully appreciated! Oh and the check engine light is NOT on nor did it ever come on through all this and still isn't on.
