Question 1997 Concord 3.5 No Start No Crank, Batt connections good

Hi - I'm a GM guy. My new wife is a Mopar girl. Her '97 concord 3.5 quit starting, no crank. She said it acted like the Batt was low 2-3 times in the last 2-3 weeks.

I disconnected, cleaned and tightened the Batt cables
swapped the start relay, checked the fuses...

No click of solenoid when key in start. can hear other relays closing.

Can I jump across the terminals on the starter to see if the solenoid is OK? I'm trying to determine if the solenoid or starter is junk.

Thanks,
Mike

By 'Hit the starter you mean "Give it a love tap with a Ford Wrench 9 (smallish hammer)? Correct?

Thanks,

Tapped on starter. Tried to turn over for a second. Tapped and tried again. Some solenoid clicking 4,5 times. then nothing.

Starter? How hard is it to get out? Does it come out forward with the oil filter out?

THANKS!

try arking the solenoid terminals that connect the started wires and see if it will crank that way

Hi -

Arcking across the Starter terminals produced spark (duh), and no attempt to crank.

If starter is bad, how does it come out of there?

Thanks very much,

Mike
