Automatic Temperature Control
Does it have an "auto" button on the temp control panel? If so, then it's automatic. The best way to run it is to set a comfortable temperature, punch the auto button and forget it. People tend to want to fuss with it too much, not understanding why it blows harder when warming up/cooling down with the result that they get uncomfortable and wind up opening a window and bi**ching at the thing for being stupid, when if they would let it work, they would be fine.
If it seems to not maintain the temperature well, try using your shop vac to suck the accumulated dust out of the little grid on the control head. That little opening if where the unit draws air in to sample the temp. Lots of air flows in there and dust builds up over time.
