ESP BAS light coming on crossfire 2005 suddenly slowing down
Hello Crossfire community.
I have a 2005 crossfire (200k miles) and an issue that it seems the mechanic struggles to figure out. When I'm driving after a min or two suddenly the car slows down, the ESP BAS light comes on and I can only drive walking speed (no matter how much I push the gas pedal). When I stop the car engine, restart it, I can again drive for a min or so until the same happens. Anybody any ideas pointers what the issue could be or sounds familiar? The engine seems fine and is well maintained.
Thank you in advance for reading and any pointers you might have.
Wolfgang.

There will be a fault code stored in the computer that will help guide the service tech to the source of the problem. It will take a fairly sophisticated code reader to be able to drill down and find that code. If your local Chrysler dealership can't help, there is a possibility that a Mercedes dealership might be able to help as the car was built by Daimler.
Thank you very much. Yes, that's my plan. I will go back to the dealership to get the code read (the mechanic's computer cannot as you said). Thing is my trust level is fairly low with the local chrysler dealer (they quoted me 7.3k to fix exhaust issues, replacing the cats plus oxygen sensors - I went to a local muffler place and for1k they put new cats in and fixed it, oxygen sensor were fine. I almost was ready to give the car away to the junk yard). But I guess I do not have to get the work done with them, just get the error read. Thanks again in the meantime.
