Default ETC Light is on

I have a 2008 chrysler sebring, and a couple days ago my ETC light came on and started blinking. Now I have no power, a very rough idle, and a high idle between 1500 and 2000 rpm. I took the car to my local shop, he said its probably just a dirty throttle body, $100 bucks and an hour's worth of work and it will be just fine. Well he called me back 2 hours later and said he cleaned everything, and the problem is still there. He charged me nothing for the work he did and advised me to take the car to the dealer. He said that the sensor under the pedal is working just fine but the ETC is not, unless he touched it then it would opperrate just fine, but wont by itself. Do I need to take it to a chrysler dealer? Is there anyone who might know what is actually going on? It seems like this is a huge issue with these vehicles. Is there a recall on this, is this just a design fault?

You don't have to take it to a dealer, BUT you need to take it to someone who knows what they're doing. From your description of what he said and did, he obviously doesn't.

ETC light is on for a reason as it has detected a fault code that is not throttle body related. Without a fault code or better description of the vehicle type (? 08 Sebring 2.0L, 2.4L, 2.7L, 3.5L ?) its very difficult to determine.

Also when a light begins to Blink there is an immediate need for vehicle service.

Question Similar Problem, HELP Need answers

I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring Touring 2.4L. It has about 102,000 miles and has begun to shut-off while driving or even when idling. When I do get it on it is on a high idle or has difficulties staying on and giving a rough ride. The engine light came on for a few minutes and then shut off. I took it to my local Auto-zone to have it checked and received these codes
P2270 O2 Sensor signal stuck lean - Bank 1, Sensor 2
P0700 Read fault memory of control unit ETC

P0700 is a code that tells you there are other fault codes stored in the transmission computer. The code reader at the parts store is not sophisticated enough to drill down to find those codes. You'll have to take it somewhere else where they have a better machine to find out what is going on in there. That would be a place like a good transmission shop.

Try googling those codes as "chrysler P1121 code" and see what you get.

Hi rward1658,

The B0010 code is as follows: Passenger Frontal Stage 1 Deployment Control (Subfault)

I do not see a code on my end that matches P1121.
