Front End Play/99 300M
Aclunking noise has developed in the front end of my 99 300M, mainly when I turn the steering wheel. I raised the car, grabbed the left front wheel at the 3 and 9 position, and wiggled it. There is some play in it. Does this indicate a bad inner tie rod? If not, what are the other possibilities? Thanks in advance for your help.
Found that the clunking noise and steering wheel shudder was due to a worn out inner rack and pinion bushing. I replaced the same bushings on an Intrepid a few years back. My question is this..... how do you bend up the lower lock tabs that go over the nut holding the tie rod to the rack? I can hammer the top ones down but can't do anything with the bottom tabs. Thanks in advance for any helpful answers given.
