Default Gas Mileage decrease

I have a 1999 Sebring JXi with 105000 miles. The AC compressor failed about a month ago and I had it replaced with a re-manufactured unit. Since then I have noticed about a 5 MPG decrease in my gas mileage. I don't know if this is coincidental or if the new compressor is the cause. Has anyone else seen a similar issue? Any suggestions?

Probably coincidence, but if the old one was not working for a while and you are now using the new one with regularity, there will be some gas mileage penalty. To improve your gas mileage, change your oil, inflate tires, tune up the engine, check for dragging brakes and go lightly on the gas pedal.

Actually the old compressor was working fine and locked up one day. Not a steady decrease in efficiency. Thanks for the ideas, though.
