Hey all greetings from the UK.

I have a chrysler Neon , with only 30K miles on the clock and a catastrohpic problem occured with it recently.

Suddenly the engine light came on, and the gearbox is performing like a pig, and it wont do over 30 mph.

I have had it plugged into a computer thingy me jig lol, and it is reporting a Transmition Control Unit Problem, and problems with 3rd and 4th gear. Is this going to be a scrap heap challange and my beloved car ends up there or are there things I can do and check before its a transmition replacement.

 

Sounds like a failed solenoid pack. Did a Chrysler dealer read the codes?

The solenid pack is a relatively inexpensive fix compared to rebuilding/replacing the transmission.
