Check your level of coolant. You may be low. If so, investigate why it is losing coolant. Might be the coolant outlet manifold, a common problem on the 2.7 L engine. Search the forum for much discussion on the topic and how to replace it.

I just had this same problem. This means your coolant is low.

BUT, after you refill the coolant, check it every day to make sure you aren't losing any. If you are, you have a bad water pump and possibly a bad thermostat, and you'll need to get that replaced.

Possibly...yes...Probably...Yes......Definitively. .....NOT.

While low coolant from a leak is the most likely condition, a Plugged heater core, will produce the same symptoms ,
as will a damaged Water pump impeller. In Both of these situations The level will be correct, the vehicle will show no signs of leakage, but heater output will suffer in both cases.

A head gasket failure can leak combustion gasses into the cooling system, leaving a gas pocket, which produces symptoms Identical to the above , with no coolant loss.

There is no rule that says your car and his car have the same problem, just because they have the same symptoms......After all these years in the business, I can truthfully say, that is a recipe for DISASTER.
