Is it necessary to remove battery when removing radio?
Well basically I'm installing this (PIE CHRY02-AUX 2002-2007 Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Auxiliary RCA Audio Input Module | eBay) to the back of my radio. All I have to do is connect one connector to an empty socket on the back of my radio. The instructions state "Disconnect the negative battery terminal" as one of the steps.
My battery is behind my right tire, I am 18 years old and don't have extensive car knowledge, thus I know very little about the battery or what the "negative battery terminal" is.
My question to you all is: is this really necessary?

I don't think I even need to remove the stereo I just need to plug this dongle in. I'm only worried there may be some extraneous electric charge that may short circuit my radio or something crazy like that.
