Default Proxy Alignment??

Ok, so my wife has a 2015 Chrysler 200. Her odometer started flashing all of the sudden, then we realized the radio and A/C vents don’t work and the car battery was dead. We jumped the car. Radio and A/C vents still didnt work and the battery was dead again in 2 days. Here is a list of steps we went through.

1. Took it to Firestone. They said the battery and alternator looked good. Said the diagnostic showed a bunch of codes they didn’t understand and recommended we take it to a Chrysler dealership.

2. Took it to a dealership. They ran a diag and said its a bad battery.

3. Took it to O’Reilys and the guy said the battery and alternator were fine but swapped out the battery anyway.

4. 2 days later, car/battery was dead again.

5. Took it back to the dealership and they said it needs a proxy alignment but they cant do it without a working radio.

6. Found a used radio on ebay for $70 since Chrysler quoted me $800.

7. Swapped the radio out myself. So now the radio work and A/C vents work but the odometer is still flashing.

My question is, do I really NEED this “proxy alignment”? Will the battery and/or radio be damaged again if I do not get it done? It costs $165 that I really do not have!

Proxy alignment essentially resets all of the computer modules so they can reload/learn the most recent configuration.

One method that is sometimes effective is to disconnect both of the battery cables from the battery and touch the battery cables together for 10-15 seconds. This resets the computers and when powered back on will cause a reload/learn of the last stored configuration so all of the computer configurations match.
