Re: 2002 Chrysler 300M Special
I am looking for any in sight on the following problems that I am experiencing with my vehicle. My check engine light comes on and then my vehicle will stay in one gear it may be second gear, once this happens I'll pull over and cycle the key (turn the keyoff and then back on) and the gear issue goes away but the check engine light still stays on. If I drive for a while with out the gears issue coming back the light resets it self and goes away. I can fell when the car is going to be stuck in gear because right before that, the vehicle jolts lightly, this ( this, meaning the issue I am having with being stuck in gear) only happens when I make a hard stop. I jsut got it back from ther Chrysler dealer and they replaced an oxygen sensor. when they called me to see if I wanted to have the sensor replaced they never said that they could not duplicate the problems I described, I found this out after i had paid because it was noted on my receipt. The last problem I need help with is that after I picked up my car from the dealerwhile Iwason the way home, the low level light came on, so I checked the engine oil level and found that I was in desperate need of oil, so I added two quarts. I am surprised that the dealer didn't notice this even though they state that they did avehicle inspection and that the oil level was full. I don't know waht to do, I really don't want to keep on paying money and they can't find the real problem with my vehicle. If anybody can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks

I took it in for the problems I described, they replaced an o2 sensor and they also said they did not get any trouble codes, for either the transmission nor the engine.

I had same problem in my 300m special. I had to have the trans valve body replaced. took care of problem.Tech should have caught that if he knows what he is doing. common problem.ask dealer if they checked for valve body code.

If the engine oil level was low, did you re-check to see if the trans oil level was were it should be? When ever I have to take my car in to the Dealership for repairs, I always check and re-check everything they do. Some Dealership mechanics will only make repairs according to what is written on their instructions. They won't go the extra mile to check the obvious. I have seen this happen time and time again. Good luck!
