Reset check engine light 97 Concorde
How do I reset the check engine light on a 97 Concorde after changing spark plugs? If it involves removing a fuse or disconnecting the battery, is there anything that will need to be restored (other than the clock & selected radio stations)? Will the check engineight then remain ON with a Battery Was Disconnected error code?
Before you get all excited about turning that "check engine" light off, get the codes read to find out why it's on. Then correct whatever problem(s) show up. The check engine light does not come on as a result of disconnecting the battery. It does come on, however, for serious things that need to be checked.
Not our first rodeo...we know that there's a reason the light came on & that codes can be read to determine the cause. Just the first Chrysler car in a couple decades so we weren't up to date on Chrysler systems. We DID have the codes read to find out why it's on. The code indicated spark plugs so we changed all 6. Looking at the old plugs, it was obvious why the warning light came on. Now that the plugs are changed, we want to reset the light. I recalled reading that on some models, the check engine light will come on after the battery has been disconnected. I also know that on some cars, there are systems that must be reset after a battery was disconnected. After correcting a problem coded by Check Engine Light, will the light eventually go off after a certain number of starts? How many?
