Default Slow Power Window

My driver side power window(99 300m) is operating very slow, to the point of stopping at times. Put in a new window motor and then this problem. Is there a way to lubricate the regulator, track, or anything else? All replies are most appreciated. Thanks.

It may be an issue of track alignment more than lubrication. Make sure that the front and back tracks are as perfectly parallel and as free of binding as possible. There are alignment screws that control the position and alignment of the tracks, and therefore of the window. If you look at the set-up with that in mind, you should be able to figure it out.

Would it be harmful to spray silicone into the front and rear window tracks? That seems to be where the window is hanging up.

Probably won't hurt, but if it's binding, there's got to be a reason. I doubt that the tracks have collapsed to squeeze the window glass. On the other hand, if the tracks are not parallel, binding will occur. Get them properly aligned, and you won't need to pull the door apart to lube the tracks every few weeks.

Where are the window track adjustment bolts(screws?) located? Thanks again for the help.

DO NOT lubricate the rubber run channel(s) with anything! Replace them/it! There is a "skin" on the rubber run channels, and as soon as that is worn out, you are left with plain ole' rubber. Any type of lubrication on rubber will not last long, as the rubber will absorb it, and it will wear away quickly from use. Then the run channel will be really sticky, causing your window to really stick, and you will be replacing the motor again if used at all. You can remove the channel, clean and rinse completely with soap and water, re-install, align the window in the channel (with out the motor/regulator) so that the window goes up and down freely. If the window can not be aligned snuggly to the channel with out binding, then you need to replace the channel. If the window will go up and down with little effort with the channel in, (no regulator at this point) and the glass snuggly in, meaning it goes up and down effortlessly WITHOUT tilting, (even the very slightest bit), then the channel is good and the regulator can be re-installed.

I diagnose this problem several times a month, and most people throw a stick at me when I tell them it's the run channel and not the motor or the window alignment.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the good info I've received here. I don't find any info on aligning the run channels in my Haynes manual. Can anyone give me some basic directions on how to do this? Thanks again!

I think you can start in lubricating the track.I haven't tried any alignment procedure as my experienced solve with lube.My dad always do a repair whenever my car has some errors.
