I am rebuilding a 2.4L engine (non turbo) in a 2006 PT Cruiser. When I removed the connecting rod ends the mating surfaces are rough and appear as though they were broken off from the main shaft of the conn. rod. I did not beat on them and they came off very easily and the bearings were all in decent shape. Are these connecting rods designed to be thrown away and replaced?
