Default 2001 Chrysler Voyager turn signal/ flasher makes gauge go dead

my 2001 Chrysler voyager has an electrical problem where whenever i use the turn signals or the flasher, it turns the gauge cluster off. nothing else in the car goes offf and the outside signal lights do not blink as well either turn signals or flashers are on in the car. its shows the turn signal lights on the dash but nothing else when on as well. tried changing the multi function switch with no success, and the haynes manual i picked up isnt very helpful or corresponding to what i should be seeing under my dash to troubleshoot. any help please would be greatly appreciated.

Does it happen when you just touch the stalk for the turn signals? what about the wipers them to?
