Default Chrysler 300C Downhill Braking problem

I was driving on a 6% downhill grade (Grapevine near Bakersfield, CA) last weekend and each time I applied the brake on my 2005 300C the car would "shudder". I downshifted and made every attempt to minimize braking, but each time I used the brakeit did "shudder". When I was on a level highway I tested the brakes and they seem to work normally. Does anyone have any ideas? Have you ever heard of such a thing happening on the 300C?
