Default Gear shift cable Stratus 1999 convertible

Hi peeps, the other day I stranded, because my gear shift cable got loose. The roadside assistance fixed it with some glue, but advised me to get a new cable. But unfortunately I can't find one. What do you think, will this hold? And if not, any tricks you can recommend? Or maybe any advice where to find another cable? Strangely enough the Stratus convertible was never a popular car in The Netherlands, so spare parts are rare. But I also can’t find them online… Best, Paul

It's the part in the engine. As you can see, it's now glued together. The question is: will this hold?

The '99 convertible is a corporate twin/clone of the '96 - '99 Chrysler Sebring, Plymouth Breeze and Dodge Stratus (4-door sedan not 2-door coupe) here in the states so those parts will interchange. The stratus convertible is the European branding of the sebring convertible.
