Johnny Mopar
I have a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. When I turn on the A/C, the cooling fans do not come on. The compressor clutch engages ok. I've replaced the relays with no luck. The fans are good and come on if I pull the low speed relay while the car is running with a/c on. They appear to be running at high speed. Any ideas.
The fans do not run all the time. They only come on when certain conditions are detected by the engine computer, including coolant temperature and A/C use and pressure of the A/C system. This time of year, they may not come on at all. Pulling the relay is a fault detected by the computer which causes the fan to come on as a safety precaution. If your car is not overheating, there may be no problem here at all.
I have a 2003 PT Cruiser that the fan comes on when the A/C is turned on, so I thought it would be the same for my Sebring. I'm currently in Florida and really haven't had to use the A/C yet. I was just checking everything out and noticed the fan issue. I'll check it out when the weather warms up a bit. Thanks.
