Rattle under drivers Side Dash
[:@]I purchased my 2008 300 Limited AWD December 1, 2007. Love my car but it has some rattle isues the dealer can not or does not wish to address. I commute 68 miles one way twice a day(Highway). I am 51, do not nor have I ever beat any of my vehicles. This car on certain roads (contruction areas, steel bridges has this obnoxious rattle like a pipe clanging under the dash. I can not get under the dash to see if somthing is loose and the dealership says nothing is wrong. This can be a 5 mph or 55 mph? Could this be the AC duct work? Is this normal. After 20k the car just like a LHS I used to own has started to rattle? I thought I would give Chrysler another chance after I sold the LHS and bought an Infinity (197,000 when sold) that never rattled. The Chrysler waranty and the 300 style fir the bill, butI am not 100% happy. One note, at 3000k there was a resonation through the car at certain speeds only covered up by turning up the radio volume. Turns out the base plate of the antenna was loose which I was able to demonstrate to the dealer. This is a poor choice of antenna for this car. Any ideas of what the rattle is would be most appreciated. For the most part I love this car and had planned to keep it a long time. Thanks..Tad

You need to go back to the dealer, or find a different one.
Heres why the dealer doesnt want to deal with it, just an fyi. Dealers dont make money off of warranty work for one, they do off of customer pay, so if there techs are tied up, fixinf a rattle, and not doing customer pay, the tech, the service advisor and dealer all lose money potentially.
Secondly techs, work on flat rate, the job says it takes two hours, you get two hours wether it took you all day, or 10 minutes, you get two hours. Chrysler warranty doesnt pay to drive around a car and listen for a rattle, then if the tech finds a rattle it wont pay but a few tenths of an hour to fix it.
Just like you do, the tech and service advisor has a family, has bills, has a mortgage to pay.
It isnt anything personal, it is just time consuming and Chrysler doesnt compansate techs for the time they spend on it

Rob, thanks so much. The buying experience was great at this dealer but the service has killed all happy feeling, they scratched my car, stained the interior, destroyed a stetson on the back seat so this does not surprise me. I should have bought another Infinity. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Tad
