Default Insurance Fraud

So, I went to go pick my sisters up from school yesterday, and I got involved in what I think was an attempt on insurance fraud. I was sitting behind this woman a red light about to turn right. It was her, and then me,.. then some people behind us. There was no one coming for a long long way, enough room for at the very least 10 cars to get out and accelerate to the speed limit (65MPH). She takes off, so I pull up and kinda roll through the light because thats how we do in texas. I look to the left just out of habit to make sure no cars are coming and just as I look back, the woman in front of me slams on her brakes, locks it up, So I do what I can to avoid it, but there is no way. I rear-ended her and we pulled off to assess the damages and her car is fine. She rolls her eyes, almost in dissppointment, and looks over at my smashed headlight and dented bumper. I asked what she wanted to do and she responded "it's your insurance" so we just parted ways, and that was that.

I am legally responisble for the accident, but does that make it my fault? I want to warn everyone right now, especially those in the Austin area and The Detroit area, that this is becoming a major issue. People are getting more and more involved in these fraudulent attempts to make a little extra money. This is not the first time I have had this happen, but it is the first I couldn't get out of. I have never hit anyone in my life and that really kinda pissed me off.

What are your thoughts on this?

I would think that it's your fault for looking to the side, eventhough that was probably the safest thing to do. If she didn't get any damage and she doesn't have your insurance stuff, I'd say just fix the car yourself and not mention it to your insurance company.

The plan in that was to get her car ****ed up so that I would have to pay for something, and I would get in trouble.. I'm keeping this on the DL from the insurance company on that note. The deductible would be more than the price to fix it, plus, I've already fixed everything. You could understand my frustration im sure...

I agree with you there. I think the fault would be on you too.

I'm not trying to push the blame to anyone else, the fact is, I was looking back at her when she slammed on her brakes in the middle of the road. There was no way I could stop my montero with 6 passengers and bad brakes faster than she did... No way...

And get this, I was dropping my friend off at his house the other day and this woman in front of me pulled out too far and I hadn't realized this, so she starts backing up, and ****ing hits my car. This is getting really old... rule number 786 why derek needs a grill gaurd for his truck.... lol... I hate people.. the stupid ones...
