Whining Transmission Just bought a great little 1994 Lebaron GTC convertible. When sitting in idle it is as quiet as any engine you will find. When put in gear and going down the highway there is a whining noise. It shifts as smooth as any car I have owned. It only has 70,000 miles on it. I checked the fluid and it is as nice as can be and full on the dip stick. That is at operating temps and in park. Is it normal for these cars to make that whining noise. Im sure its not slipping. it takes 2600 RPMs to go 70mph. I would assume that is normal for the 3.0 engine.
