I have a 2009 Sebring LX, and am wondering if anyone has tried the Canadian Tire universal rims for winter tires?
I have 16" mag wheels, but was wondering if the 15" steel wheels will fit over the disc brakes. Cuts down on the cost if you can go with 15's for the winter tires.

I actually have 17", too, Made a mistake in the original post. I would drop down to 16's, or even 15's, for the winter tires, if they would fit as 15" wheels and tires are considerably cheaper, and tall sidewall is better in the cold.

I have a 2008 Avenger, pretty much the same car mechanically. Factory 16" steelies from a base model Sebring will work, whether or not you have four wheel disc. My car is a SXT model, w/18" rims. 16" steelies fit w/no issues. This allowed me to run studded snow tires, as I couldn't find any in 17's or 18's. I can't vouch for the AWD models.
With the 16's, it's a pretty tight fit. Hope this helps.

The reason people go with steel rims, for winter tires, is because they are cheaper than buying a 2nd set of alloy rims. I usually go with a smaller rim as well, ie my alloys are 17" and I go with 16" steel wheels in the winter.
The reasons for this, other than the shorter rims are usually less expensive, is that more sidewall is a good thing when your tires are frozen, gives the radial more flex area to work properly.
I also like to go narrower, in the winter, with the tires. For my 09 Sebring, the stock size wheel is P215 65R16, and the 'deluxe' size is P215 60R17. For winter I will go with P205 70R16. Narrower is better in snow. All of these three sizes are within .12-.16"dia. of each other if you go up or down 1 step. The Sport 18" will be approximately the same diameter as well.
Also, Alloy rims will corrode after while from road salt, but you may not be keeping yours long enough.
It is a lot better on both rims and tires if you don't have to remove and reinstall them every fall and spring.
Basically, who cares what they look like in the winter? The car is covered in ice and snow anyway. I buy hubcaps, for the steel wheels, and they look fine.

Me Too also have 17", too, Created one in the exclusive post. I would drop down to 16's, or even 15's, for winter season weather period wheels, if they would fit as 15" wheels and wheels are a much less costly choice, and great sidewall is better in the chilly.
