98 concord p0700 and p0715
Hi,
I have a chrysler concord 1998 that had a check engine light on and car shook a little but the shaking went away and now drives fine. I scanned for codes with my code reader and it came back to p0700 and p0715(input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction). I never had the ATF fluid changed (current mileage 130000). Where is the sensor located (outside/inside transmission)? Do you think a full rebuild is in order? Thanks

Check Engine Light
EMX72,
Might want to have this light "reset" either by going to Autozone (service is free), or disconnecting the battery for 5 mins and reconnecting (this resets the master computer). Chryslers are infamous for their "check engine lights" and many people indicate that the reason may be to take your car to a dealer for unnessary repairs- I don't know. If the vehicle is not giving you any problems, I would recommend this process. If the light comes back on after a couple resets, then consult a professional. My '99 Concorde has issues with the engine light and I reset it- after about 20,000 more miles it comes back on- my code was for oxygen sensor and other components. So, after awhile, I got tired of going to Autozone and began disconnecting the battery. To date, I have 185,000 miles on the Concorde and it has never been in the shop. I do not have any engine, emission issues and my miles per gallon are not affected- which is common when an oxygen sensor goes out. I Reset the light as recently as a few days ago.......again!
Use your best judgement- this has been my experience with my engine light. Don't forgo a repair that may impair the safety of your vehicle.

I just bought a 98 concorde and its throwing the same codes, po700 po715. It went into limp mode but its a strange one. seems like its stuck in 3rd gear. Do you thing replacing the speed sensor will solve these problems or is it more then that? speedometer still works.

Take your car to AAMCO. They'll diagnose it for free. The dealership will not. The problem is either your throttle bottle or your transmission shift solenoid. The throttle body will give intermittent issues but the shift solenoid will happen more often. Basically, the car jerks and appears to be stuck in 1st or 2nd gear. If you throw the car in neutral, turn it off and turn it back on the issue will stop until you slow down enough for the car to shift down to the lower gears. I'm pretty sure it's one of the two.
If it's the shift solenoid going bad it either stays stuck open or stuck closed. I can't remember which. Good luck.
