Clunk noise when turning at slow speed
Hi
I have a 2004 Sebring Touring Edition 2.7L with 140,000kms and when making turns at slow speeds the car will make a clunk noise. You can feel the snap through the car as well. It seems to occur only when there is body roll in the turn. I've taken the car to a Chrysler dealership and after 3 visits, $300 dollars later the noise is still there. They claim it needs a new rack & pinion which will cost $600 + labour. Has anyone else run into this problem? 1st visit they couldn't find anything wrong. 2nd visit they were saying lower ball joints, and 3rd visit I was coming in for ball joints only to find out they were okay, and now they think its the rack and & pinion. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
David
