Default slight auto transmission fluid leak on front of transmission

Just purchased a 02 pt cruiser a month or so ago and found a small transmission oil leak on the front of the transmission above the pan. Replaced transmission pan gasket to try to remedy the problem and still a slight leak in that area above the pan exists. There is a plate on the front of the transmission in that area, but I don't think that has been removed for it to be leaking. What else might it be in that area above the transmission pan from the pan sealing edge on up to the top of the transmission case that could be leaking? Looking for possible problems others have had and solutions that they have found if they've had the problem. Limited space and can't see to find it myself so far, so looking for any assistance anyone can provide
