Default parking lights front.rear/license plate lights not working!!! HELP!!

Hey everyone,

I installed aftermarket "plug and play" HID lights for my 300 Touring 6 months ago which required splicing into my amber parking lights to draw more power for the kit to work. the kit blew out on me 3 weeks ago. I just replaced everything back to stock and respliced the wires back together. The headlights work fine. At the same time, when my lights are on, the tail lights/license plate/front amber parking lights do not function at all unless i brake, use my turn signals, or turn on my hazard lights.

I've checked the fuses, all working fine. I've checked the wiring that was initially tampered with, and nothing is grounding out or wired incorrectly. Ive tried even replacing the dual-filament bulbs and still nothing. I don't know what else it could be and it's driving me CRAZY!

Please help if anyone has had this problem in the past or knows a cost effective solution or even better, uncostly solution!

Thanks for taking the time to read my problem.

Chris D.

the IPM is the fuse box up front under the hood the layout will be in your owners manual on the fuse number

Thanks for the response. It turned out being a bad fuse. The fuse didn't look busted but I guess i just missed it with the test light.

Thanks for your help!

Which fuse did you replace? Did you test each fuse until you found bad one with connectivity tester? I have the same problem with a 2004 pacifica - no tail lights, no front side lights, no license light.I'vegot headlights, turn signals / flashers / brake lights. In the 04 I don't see a specific label for this fuse on the IPM lid, and no schematic. No night or rain drivin' for now.

Thanks. First time on.

I know this is an old thread... but did the fuse ever blow again?

Having the same problem with an '05 fuse blowing repeatedly.

Maybe the OP has found their problem because it doesn't look like they ever came back with an answer, but my problem ended up being that the harness for the license plate light was routed incorrectly and was resting on the muffler, which caused it to eventually break the two wires and then the power and ground wire corroded together. So a little snip of the wire to get rid of the corrosion on each end, a couple of wiring butt-connectors and some shrink-wrap and all the lights are working again.
