Default 1996 Chrysler Concer Lxi check engine misfire

There is an oil leak in my spark plug tube causing a misfire, and reduced fuel performance. I replaced the valve cover gaskets, but I didn’t know where to put the spark plug tube seal… where does it go? I put it under the nut that the spark plug wire goes on top of.

Okay I put the seal in the right place. That means the oil is coming up from the piston?! I’ve had the car for a while, but right after I got it I hit a hard hole in the road and smacked the bottom of my car on the ground. I think the check engine light for the misfire came after that…

I probably should do a compression test.

why would you need a compression test for hitting a pot hole? if you did enough damage to cause a compression issue it would be vary vary easy to see like a huge hole in the side of the engine.

I’m thinking the oil in the spark plug tube is blow by from the piston like a worn/damaged piston ring possibly from smacking the bottom of my car on the road. Whether or not smacking my car on the bottom of the road is the reason there is oil in my spark plug tube causing a misfire. I thought a compression test is what helps determine that. I haven’t done one before.

your oil pan would be damaged the crank would be damaged all before piston rings would even be touched

Is there more than one seal? I only know of the one that goes on top of the valve cover… yes still oil!
