Hi I've got a '99 Concorde 2.7L and I've got the same problem. I'll probably work on it this summer.

Good luck with that, I ended up buying a used engine with low miles
from a Auto Dismantler even though the engine wasn't very cheap..

Before, I was going to buy the engine, I was going to rebuild the 2.7L
but I didn't because I thought it was going to be really expensive to
rebuild

This noise is common in the 2.7 engine. It starts off very lite and is sometimes confused as a lifter noise. changing the rod bearings is like putting a bandade on a gun shot wound. The complete repair would consist of rebuilding the engine. I purchase these vehicles every day with the same problem. I perform a complete rebuild then resale the vehicles at a great profit. Good luck........

What, specifically, is making the noise? Changing bearings may be no more effective than a bandaid BUT more like doing surgery + transplanting the wrong(?) part. Certainly SOMEONE knows what part or parts are sounding off. I know my mechanic doesn't!
