Default 2001 LHS electrical problem

When driving my LHS, my radio cuts out, the warning bell dings, and the info center reads "Memory Seat disabled, auto not in park". Also, on occation I hear a snap, sounding like an electrical short somewhere in the dash behind the radio and temp control center. Could this be a radio problem?

humm unplug your radio first and see if it goes away. I dont see a common wire betweent all of thoes items that u posted. I would say take the radio out and smell it and smell around the area behind the radio and see if u can smell nething burtns like the radio, ac control head stuff like that and if u find something burnt up leave it out and drive for awhile and see if it comes back.

Thanks for your response. I removed the radio, CD player and Temp. Control Center. The radio had a faint smell of burnt plastic. I left theradio out of the vehicle and drove it for several days with none of the above symptoms showing up. I installed a new radio and everything still works. I am not sure how all of this relates to each other, but the memory settings do include the radio. Again, thanks for your suggestions, and I hope this will help someone else in the future.

I have the same problem. I pulled the fuse to my radio and it stopped. I pulled the radio and found that if I disconnect only the small connector with one wire that goes to the back of the radio the problem also stops. This wire is the communications bus that all modules use to communicate with other modules. All of these bus wires go to one module the Body Control Module that I now suspect it to be the defective component.

I do not plan on any further repair at this time. I now have use of my radio with the loss of the radio control by the remote switches on the steering wheel. The steering wheel switches are interpreted by the Body Control Module and that module sends a message to the radio by way of the bus which is now disconnected.
